iPod - The iPod is a brand of portable media players designed and marketed by Apple Computer. Devices in the iPod family provide a simple user interface designed around a central scroll wheel (with the exception of the iPod shuffle). The full-sized model stores media on a built-in hard drive, while the smaller iPod shuffle and iPod nano use flash memory. Like many digital audio players, iPods can serve as external data storage devices when connected to a computer.
Zune - Zune is an umbrella term from Microsoft that will cover the upcoming portable media player, the software that will drive the device and a service for acquiring and sharing media. The project was previously known as codename Argo. The Zune is currently under production at the Microsoft headquarters in Redmond, Washington. It was previously thought that Zune was one of Microsoft's media players under "Project Argo", similar to Apple's iPod family. However, it now seems that the "Zune" brand will be used for all media players and other services, throughout the new project.
